Yes in that specific case it is better to have more cores. My “Media” PC refers to the design of the PC. In most apps out there they are not made to utilize more than 2 cores.

I still think having more than 2 cores doesn’t have much of an advantage. Unless you are into using apps which you know has the ability for more cores.

@helipro555 – You have good broadband… so do I… if we are both happy with our broadband then we have nothing to argue about!

Pffft, I beg to differ, additional cores can make all the difference, especially when its your so called ‘media pc’. Why?

Because decent media programs offer the option to dedicate or otherwise reserve cores. Like in adobe after effects I can dedicate three cores and 6 of my 8GB of ram to doing ram previews. This allows me to essentially watch it real time, something that is impossible for a crappy duo core. Too many computer idiots out there claim ‘more cores doesn’t equal more power’, wrong.

Sigh… just another person who knows nothing about computers. More than 2 cores gives u no advantage in performance. My PC may be a little old but if it performs just as good as the rest then why should I care??

Ubuntu Linux is what I use… its more of an OS to get shit done rather than wasting time playing games.

Windows 7 seems great but thats only because Vista sucked.

The curtain has been raised (slightly) on the next installment of Microsoft’s Windows operating system – Windows 7.

Microsoft hope it will bring the internet, mobile phone and PC closer together. But reviews have so far been mixed, although reviewers have been limited to trying the (pre-beta version).

The full version is expected to be capable of working with a touchscreen screen, navigating documents and the Web similar to Apple’s iPhone. It is officially released at the end of 2009.
