A video blog about how I feel on the mac / pc debate in light of windows 7’s arrival.

The curtain has been raised (slightly) on the next installment of Microsoft’s Windows operating system – Windows 7.
Microsoft hope it will bring the internet, mobile phone and PC closer together. But reviews have so far been mixed, although reviewers have been limited to trying the (pre-beta version).
The full version is expected to be capable of working with a touchscreen screen, navigating documents and the Web similar to Apple’s iPhone. It is officially released at the end of 2009.
“I have seen the future, and it is bleak. Windows 7, the next big version, the one that was supposed to fix everything that was wrong with Vista, is here (at least in pre-beta form), and I can now say – with some confidence – that Microsoft has once again dropped the ball.
“Overall, I’m extremely disappointed with Windows 7. Far from atoning for Vista’s sins, Windows 7 simply carries them forward, visiting them upon yet another generation. Windows 7 is no panacea. Rather, it’s just more of the same: slow, bloated, and frustrating as hell.”
“When it comes to Windows 7, Microsoft hasn’t just learned from the mistakes of Windows Vista. It has picked up a thing or two from Apple’s OS X, judging by first impressions.
“It’s not clear how big the changes are so far. If you put the beta-build of Windows 7 side-by-side with Windows Vista, you’d be hard-pressed to spot the differences. Yes, some of the icons look slightly different and there’s no sidebar, but it’s essentially still the Vista look and feel. But that changes when you start to use Windows 7.
“For a start the OS won’t nag you as much; many notifications are banished to a control panel, you get to approve icons before they show up in the system tray and Microsoft has reined in Vista’s useful but annoying UAC prompts; you can choose which ones you want to see or turn them off altogether.”
“Initially Windows 7 looks similar to Vista, but there a lot of new features that have been added. Under the skin, Microsoft has been working hard. Boot times have been reduced, and certainly the review laptop Microsoft provided has a fairly snappy boot time.
“Microsoft has been working with OEMs to improve battery life – simple things such as reducing the timer frequency can improve battery life by up to 10 per cent. The networking stack has had new diagnostics added to help users figure out exactly where the problem lies.
“So, is this all a big deal? It’s not a change to the fundamental core of Windows, and most of the improvements sound relatively small. But taken together, they seem to address many of the issues people have had for Windows. I’m looking forward to trying it out, starting this afternoon.”

@HiGhRiSk209 Because by statstics 86.5% of all computers in the world do…

I just can’t see how its so bad that Windows is copying Mac. (They’re not BTW) Anyways, the people that come up with the ideas and human for both side. Humans think alike and is eventually going to come up with the same thing. Let me tell you this, who came up with the whole wallpaper concept? (Not just a color but a picture.)
at 10:51 pm
Well, those people are fan boys. They say Macs are the best no matter what.
at 10:51 pm
Well done! (claps)

i go with mac

Linux is for nerds who write code. Mac is the way to go. And as for Windows 7, today my uncle was showing me some music on his toshiba with windows 7 and it took him 5+ minutes just to do so. With a Mac he could have started it in 30 seconds, logged in in 10, and played the music in 10. He could have done such a simple thing in less than a minute. He put the disc in and it took forever for Windows to register.

Also why do you guys think 90% of the world runs windows?

I agree with your comments. In my opinion Apple was at its best right before the Intel switch. OSX Tiger is rock solid and I don’t feel the need to move up just yet. I prefer to work with a Mac, but if Windows 7 fixes the annoyances of previous versions, why not give it a try? In the end these are tools, and they should copy each other because there are certain features everyone wants in a computer and they shouldn’t be missing them just because they chose one OS or another.

In terms of viruses, well, Windows is harder to hack then OSX so in terms of hacking Windows is better and since OSX has some serious security flaws (that no one wants to fix) viruses are gonna grow and grow especially since the average mac user seems to buy it for a fashion statement (art students…) which makes them a prime target for easy to deploy viruses coming to UNIX.
I use Windows and Linux and totally ignore OSX now-a-days. Linux has the security and Windows has the gaming ability.

Excellent Video!

linux for ever thx god the guy is nice and give it to everyone for free
at 10:51 pm
it actually got the first virus in computing history, since it was the first computer.
and as for the video, I’m currently a mac user, and I believe that windows 7 fufills my needs for now. I’ve been getting frustrated with common OSX problems, and think I’d get a much more pleasing experience using Windows 7 over Mac OSX.

I have a Mac Book Pro OS and a Windows 7 and I say Apple and Microsoft should make a laptop with Windows and OS
at 10:51 pm
dont download porn and ull almost never have viruses on your pc..
besides, mac is getting more and more viruses everyday
at 10:51 pm
I to get shit done. =D
I just recently installed Windows 7 Beta via Boot Camp on my Snow Leopard Macbook Pro. My reason for running Windows on my Mac was to keep using my HP printer, which according to Snow Leopard, is no longer supported. Boo! Apple, Boo! As I used it, I realized how well polished this OS is. Previous Windows experience before the switch to Mac, was a Vista upgrade on a Dell Laptop. It was a disaster and soon after I switched to Mac.
Brilliant Mate!!!
Well balanced comentary

Very good comments. I’ve always been a PC person mainly for the reason that I didn’t find Macs to be very user friendly. Since I’ve been studying digital film production, editing and graphic design I’ve kind of been forced to learn Macs and I’ve actually grown to love them. My home computer is still a PC, but I plan to get a Mac desktop or laptop at some point in the future merely for the ease of knowing that you get what you pay for spec-wise and for being able to switch between OS’s.

To be honest, I don’t understand the real war. I just never used a mac before, and sure, I dream at all to get a mac, but is too expensive. Here in my country it is twice the price. Nowadays I’m using Linux, and I guess it is a great OS. I’ll say it: the Linux merchandising is working, Ubuntu is really usable as it says, and it is fun, because you have to find everything, relearn how to use your computer at first, and this is a improved idea, though there is a great community there to help you.

I use a mac. I admit windows 7 is good. I just want people to understand that if they say mac os sucks and then use an iphone (runs os x). they can run to hell. If they say apple sucks because of their ideas about products (durability), they can run to hell because that is the only way we might possibly get this world to last with 7 billion people on it.
Oh and you make it seem like the mac lovers are the bad ones… they mainly do that because of a lot of windows fanatics hating them for it.
at 10:51 pm
I use both os10 is much faster
at 10:51 pm
you think like me why use one when 3 good os’s are around
at 10:51 pm
LINUX is a great operative system! Too bad it’s underrated. People still think that LINUX is for nerds and geeks. It’s OpenSouce so it’s free and it’s constantly improving.
OS X is great but Macs are too expensive even though they have superior quality. Not everyone can afford to buy one.
Windows was significantly improved with 7. It still has some flaws but considering that is the most used OS in the world and that is compatible with almost everything, Windows is for sure a 100% SAFE choice.
