go.tagjag.com – twitter.com – I love seeking solutions for people. That’s kind of what got me started in this whole Internet thing, way back in about 1996. I also enjoy answering questions when I can, especially from our sister community over at PC PitStop! Mike is a CAD designer, and is wondering if his XP software will install and run on Windows 7. chris.pirillo.com – http – lockergnome.net

I know about that, he just should have mentioned what it is compatable for. Most users get the cheaper home premium.
at 6:02 pm
It is for Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate, not Starter, Home Basic, or Home Premium.
You can try the Compatibility tab in the Properties box, I’m sure Windows 7 still has it.

This isn’t a problem with Windows, but it might be the modem or a bad driver.

i was so excited for xp mode.. unfortunately it fails on most pc..
‘Hardware Virtualization required’

You can try the Compatibility tab in the Properties box. I’m pretty sure Windows 7 has it. He should have mentioned that it is only available for Professional and higher.

at 6:02 pm
Yea cool video, you probably should mention that it doesn’t work for any of the home editions of Windows 7 except for “Ultimate”
at 6:02 pm
is there a performance hit for running in compat mode?
at 6:02 pm
Windows 7 also has a compatability mode.
at 6:02 pm
XP mode is for Win 7 pro, but not Home.
at 6:02 pm
@sickspastic I try to use as much freeware and open source that I can.
Of course the best option, would be to either use a non-formatting partition software and put Win 7 on it and dual-boot and test it with a win7 trial, or put in a new primary hard-drive and test it on that, or format your HD and put win 7 on that or find someone with win7 & install it, try less reliable things like running VM software of XP on XP and try it in that, as long as the same VM software works on Win7 the same way.

@LeetRecordings i agree..
at 6:02 pm
how do you have your whole monitor mave nothing but live chat on it?
at 6:02 pm
They should be able to do this for everything. Like be able to play Playstation One games on Playstation 3 (example). Why should you buy , new games, for a new system? Of course… it’s for the money.
at 6:02 pm
i think xp programs will run at windows 7
i have a xp program…it runs smoothly in my windows 7 home premium
at 6:02 pm
Pain in the ass if you ask me.

Bing it!

Windows XP Mode is only available on Windows 7 Professional or higher.
You may need to enable Hardware Virtualization Technology on your BIOS to run Virtual PC.
I love Windows XP Mode and use it every day. Using Integration Tools, you can run Win XP Apps as if they were native windows, so you won’t have to stare at XP’s wallpaper, desktop, taskbar, etc–just the apps.
at 6:02 pm
This only works if you have windows enterprise or higher. You cant use it on home premium or starter. Sadface
at 6:02 pm
oh chris chris chris, you call yourself a geek??? It only runs in Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate and versions above home premium!!!

I have only had to restard mine for updates and the occasional lock up where I try to do too much, and overload the CPU. I also haven’t had a virus for the past 5 years.
at 6:02 pm
@james227uk i really dislike windows. to many restarts and viruses. for every windows program there exists a better linux program
at 6:02 pm
I know, but there r only 3 CPU manufacturers, and I want to know what your problem is with XP mode
at 6:02 pm
so you can BING IT!!
at 6:02 pm
No, it runs on a ton of different types of processors.
