you will want at least 2gb and you are best to have a more modern and faster components installed to run modern OS’s

What about device drivers? Will I have to back those up? I use a Gateway GT5676 with ATI Radeon 3200 Graphics.

you need to have ateast 2 gigs of ram. I just upgraded to w7 and it said that my system passed the req test, i have 8 gigs on my pc and it said that you need atleast 2 gigs. and your pc needs to be able to run aero

  11. BassGodVictorWooten Says:

What type of case are you using?

  12. tomshinton Says:

i’m sure i read somewhere that you can hack the winsetup.dll file in the setup, so that the installation skips the RAM check stage, not too sure on the specifics though

  14. davedudeit Says:

  15. RedMclaren Says:

Ah! Win7 looks amazing I want it now but, can my PC run it with only 768MB of RAM? I have enough hard disk space and it won’t run aero. The RAM may be the only problem…

  16. ert69 Says:

    took 15 minutes for me…

Get an Intel X25-M SSD. My windows installed in roughly 7 minutes, and boot to desktop is straight after the animation has turned into windows logo. SSDs are truly amazing. :-)

  18. xxMrA Says:

The problem is I don’t have enough money for another hard drive.

  20. Ddog666 Says:

I’m no techie but wouldn’t install time depend on hardware capability?

  21. spawnkano Says:

I have 3 hard drives in mine for a total of 2tb. I make a separate partition for windows of about 50gb or so and just install my games, music etc. on my other drives. That way if I ever have to reinstall windows I just have to wipe the 50gb. Even if you were to get a new drive you could just install windows on the new drive and still keep your old one without backing anything up

  22. spawnkano Says:

Upgrading usually takes longer to install and isn’t always as fast as a fresh install. From my experiences I usually did a fresh install of windows 1 or 2 times a year as things tend to get a bit sluggish after awhile.

  23. rossb16 Says:

My laptop with only 4GBs RAM and 3.2GHZ Processor took only 12 mins for a full fresh install of Ultimate

  24. gabrielghostrider Says:
